The Secrets of Registering on the WorkGiant Job Search Site

WorkGiant is a bit different from the other guys.  One of the newer additions to the job search and resume posting sites, WG is performance-based.  Unlike Monster, CareerBuilder and the others, WG charges employers at the back-end rather than the front-end.  They pay only if they hire a WG candidate.  This is the same model that contingency recruiting is based on.  Since the fee is paid at the end, employers and recruiters are able to list their openings and search the resume database for free.

Like Monster, you can post your resume and/or search jobs for free.  The potential benefits for you, the job seeker, is that there may be significantly more jobs for you to search and more employers searching for you since employers and recruiters don't have to pay to play.  You can also earn money for referrals.  Click here for more info.

Like other job sites, you can greatly increase your exposure to the WG Job Search site with your judicious use of focused keywords in your resume.  You'll also have opportunities to add or edit your keywords and skills in the additional spaces provided on your online registration form.

Note: It is absolutely essential that you first follow directions in "Online Resumes" to effectively build your resume for online posting.  That way, you'll get the greatest keyword exposure for WorkGiant®.

So, let’s get started...

On the intial screen, bypass all the Flash and Video and press either the "Click Here Now" or "Visit the .Com Employment Site" link just below the screen at the center of the page.

In the next page, select 'Job Seekers - Join Free' button.  You'll be taken to a short registration page to fill out your name, email, and select a username and password.

Next, either submit your resume or you can build one online.  The process is straightforward and once completed, you'll be taken to an edit page where you'll have the opportunity to edit any information given.  Pay particular attention to the skills and keywords area.  The computer doesn't always know best and most likely you'll need to add additional skills or keywords plus edit your level of expertise in each of these areas.  You can do this by selecting the 'edit' or 'add' button and change or add info as you need.

The next area for your attention is to fill out your profile for your Desired Job.  Similar to Monster and CareerBuilder, these will be your job search parameters.  Fill in as appropriate, but you might want to start with a more broadly based profile (for example, say 'yes' to relocate, or extend your commute distance beyond 5 miles) as you'll have more opportunities to choose from plus you'll get a better idea of what kinds of opportunities are being listed.  It may give you ideas for specific keyword additions or other improvements you might make on your resume as you get a better idea of the market's current pulse in your particular industry or profession. Once done, you can narrowly define your profile as much as you want.

Lastly, you're ready to search jobs.  The screen is similar to the way CareerBuilder and Monster works. Select from the drop-down boxes on Job Function and Geographic Location.  You can also add one or more keywords to further narrow the search.

Referrals

As mentioned, WorkGiant will pay you from $50 to $200 for each candidate you refer that is hired by a WG client.  It works like this: Press the 'My Referrals' link in the options menu at the top of the page.   WorkGiant will email a personalized note on your behalf inviting your acquaintance to check out WG. All who submit their resumes to WG will be credited to your account.  When hired, you will receive your check from WorkGiant.
