The Secrets of Registering on the CareerBuilder Job Search Site

You can greatly increase your exposure to the Careerbuilder® Job Search sites with your judicious use of focused keywords in the spaces provided on your online registration form.   Monster® give you significant opportunities in this area.  Careerbuilder® Job Search is quite a bit different from Monster®, in that they prefer that you post your resume as a cut & paste online. 

Note: It is absolutely essential that you first follow directions in "Online Resumes" to effectively build your resume for online posting.  That way, you'll get the greatest keyword exposure for Careerbuilder®.

There are only 2 major areas that we will be concerned with here:

1. Current Job Title
2. Most Recent Job Title

Tip: these fields have keyword capability, so you must use each of these areas to the fullest extent by including as many keywords as are relevant, for example:

Current Job Title:

CareerBuilder® Job Search has only 128 character limit.  That's not much, so if you have extra space, list other closely allied titles that the searcher may be searching on.

For instance, "Java Programmer" might also be titled as "Software Engineer", "Application Developer", or "Software Developer" within even the same corporation, not to mention other companies.

Most Recent Job Title:

This (these) is (are) your current and past job titles and CareerBuilder® allows about  500 character limit. Put as many relevant titles you can think of here you have held in your past work progression. There isn't a huge amount of space here, but  you may want to include specific job skill-sets that each of those titles required. 

Now, do the same (register ) with Monster®. and HotJobs.com but be advised that in Monster® you have much more space to work with

Summary

Don’t rush this experience. The online resume-builder will act as both resume and as a screening tool. This will gain you the edge as a screen-in tool rather that a screen-out tool.

Your objective is the same in all these online resume posting sites. Make it keyword-rich and you will definitely get more hits. More hits will generate more calls.
